Some twenty years ago the Turbo Raven was flown at airshows by Wayne Handley when he was around 57 years of age.
The plane was capable of prop hanging and could reach 10,000 feet in one minute. Weighing in at 1900 lbs, the power available was 2700 lbs of thrust.
.. this video shows some of his show routine;

Unfortunately, some times gremlins appear out of nowhere, as they did on this day; ..while attempting his rapid descent and landing, the engine quit, the plane pancaked in and Wayne's back was broken..

Here's a nice "bio" of Wayne Handley...a pilot with 31,000 hours of flying under his belt; a lot of it with Ag planes..!

According to this link, the Turbo Raven was rebuilt and donated to a museum in 2005 and sits alongside the Spruce Goose, of Howard Hughes fame.

Re: TURBO RAVEN & pilot Wayne Handley
Ok..I'll come clean..!
Why all the interest in the Turbo Raven..?
Well, several years back the SEAGULL manufacturing company of Vietnam made a model of the TR...and some four years ago I bought one off ebay.
So it's high time to get this thing to the front of the queue. The box has been opened, the kit has some nice quality to it, and I've searched out a review and video of it that was in an RC mag years ago. When I start the assembly I'll put a link on the "Workshop" Forum.
..here is the reviewer's fight video:
