TCopter

Unread post by RocketManRC » Mon Jan 10, 2011 5:55 am

I have been a bit Multicopter obsessed lately...

Here is what I worked on yesterday with the intention of only using material I had lying around:

This one is just for fun. It should be fast and tough.

Anybody want to do Multicopter combat???

This multicopter approach to the hobby has been on an exponential state of development and is one of the most revolutionary development in model flying in many years. We are lucky in Nova Scotia to have people like Jerry Kutra (Eyeinsky) and others who are on the leading edge of the development of the new Class.

I think my little TCopter might be a little heavy but maybe not. We shall see...

It's not worth another topic so here is my big quad that I have been working on:

This one has been flying, and actually very well. I have been tweaking and tuning but like all new flying machines the weather this time of year doesn't help much with testing.

It flys!

So far I've only been able to test it in the garage because of the weather but it sure looks promising. It seems incredibly stable without any tuning at all.

I updated the picture gallery to show the final configuration.

I guess there is not much interest here but I managed to get an outdoor flight test in yesterday and here is the video:

I also posted on the RCGroups thread for this, so for more info you can look here:

I have to say it is a big thrill to scratch build a rotary wing aircraft like that and see it fly so well!

What a great project Rick! I tried to follow your construction photos, but the electronics are beyond my brain. Cool picture-in-picture on your video. Hopefully, I will get to see it up close and flying this weekend. Gordon.

I forgot to put thread lock on the screws holding the prop adapters on  When I repaired the minor damage yesterday I noticed that the other two prop adapters were just about to let go as well. They won't come off again!
