Topcoat for foam planes
Hi there folks!
As promised, I did some testing with Pledge floor gloss on a foam plane. I brushed a coat on a multiplex razzor (fast and fun little plane, i'm very impressed with multiplex planes, wish they were not so hard to find) Not a brush stroke to be found, this stuff levels out so well. I pressed and flexed a few spots on the plane and there was no chipping or cracking. Its very thin unlike topcoats from a spray can. The gloss makes this colors really pop too. This product is very popular in the scale plastic model hobby as a topcoat. Think i'll try this on the twin otter next. Here is a link to the product. You can get it at walmart, canadian tire and such. https://www.pledge.com/en-us/products/p ... loor-gloss

Great tip Mark, your Razzor looks..well, "sharp" ..pun intended..!
Love, the choice of the "number" on this model ...looks like it would perform well whether the top was at the bottom, or the bottom was at the top, well you get the idea..!

So I was just looking for where to buy this floor gloss. Not at CT, HD or Kent. Walmart does have a two pack which is online only and which takes a MONTH to arrive??? https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Pledge-Flo ... 2E75M33EIV). Amazon seems to be the location of choice where a container is $35. Probably a lifetime supply
Unless something like this might work? https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/pledge-flo ... 0016951678 or perhaps this? https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/pled ... 0350p.html

Future floor polish will work too. I have a bottle of that in the shop, but use it for clearing up scratched/fogged canopies.

Hi Bill! I posted a photo below. Maybe its hard to find right now with everything going on. Seems like so many products are not on the shelf since covid. Bob lucked out and found a bottle somewhere. He showed me a couple planes he did, the zipper and a umx wildcat. They look fantastic! This bottle will last me years, so ill bring some to the field to give ya to try on a few planes.
