Canadian Hobby King distributor?
Some members asked me to post this.
"Looks like HK now has a Canadian distributor with some reasonable prices...."

Have any folks here had dealings with this company?

After comparing the Turnigy 30 Amp Plush ESC between HK and Adrenalin RC, HK still has a much, much better price. I haven't compared anything else yet.

FYI folks... DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy that "balancer" you see in the top right corner. I have TWO of them and they don't work properly every time. Also, they may kill your batteries... I lost one to this device.
I believe the manufacturer uses poor QA practices.

I've been pretty happy with this little balancer Murray. It rescued a couple of 3S2200 packs that a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger had been unbalancing. Those packs now charge much faster and, now that the cells are in balance, this low power balancer has a much easier time of keeping them in balance.

Re: Canadian Hobby King distributor?
I did a quick comparison between Adrenaline RC and HobbyKing pricing on a Turnigy 3S, 1300mah 30C pack:

At Adrenaline this pack is $23.60 plus GST of $1.18. I think they're supposed to charge us HST but so far the website only quotes GST. The cheapest shipping, by Canada Post, is $10.82. Total cost: $35.60.
At HobbyKing the price is $12.55 US, no Canadian tax (even if you claim full value, since it doesn't pass the provincial threshold). International registered air mail is $7.80 with a few grams to spare; express makes it $24.39 but gives you additional weight headroom to buy more stuff. Prices are in US$ but as of today we're pretty much at parity so that shouldn't matter. Total cost: $20.35.
I'm not sure any North American operation is going to be able to compete with HK on the same products. Even if I was in a mad rush I'd probably still go to HK, defraying the higher express shipping price over a larger order. Adrenaline is worth bookmarking, though, when HK is out of stock on one of its own products you really need. Even then, though, seems to me it's probably worth inquiring at the local hobby shops first.

Yes, that seems like a really good balancer. I may have to pick up one (or two) of them! Thanks Jeff!Dirt Torpedo wrote:I've been pretty happy with this little balancer Murray. Dave, you are correct. MSC, MH, and RCWings carry Turnigy batteries at lower prices. Although, they don't carry the variety.
