A few members are using the Free-Sky 2.4ghz technology to convert our radios. In my case I will be using it to convert a Hitec Optic Tx.
These little 4 ch receivers weigh 2.4 grams and have just come back into stock at HK. Shipping on a single unit is just $2.99 bringing the entire purchase to $17.99 Canadian at todays rate.
Seven and eight channel receivers are available for a couple bucks more.
If you read up on the reviews...particuarily this one , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t31P1riiwqI
..you will learn more.

I am very happy with the FrSky system. I am using it with my Futaba 10CHP.
I would like to point out that the 'D' series of transmitter modules has telemetry where as the 'F' series do not. Without any add-ons the transmitter module will alarm when there is packet loss at the receiver end or the receiver voltage drops too low (which is only useful if you are using a receiver battery pack). It should also be possible to get it to monitor the main battery voltage but I haven't experimented with that yet. I am sure there will be a low cost add on for that available soon.
