Hey, did I get your attention with the "senior builders" comment..?
What I mean is that a few of us remember the days, long, long, ago...you know, back in the 80's, when you sent away for an RCM plan (excuse me, RCM was Radio Control Modeller Magazine, the unofficial bible of the RC hobby) and upon getting the plan you cut out every piece and built the model.
Well, check out this link ..

This guy is selling the laser cut ribs and formers (a short kit) for a number of those models that were featured in the older magazines and the prices seem to be quite decent. I see the PD Parasol is available in kit form. I had scratch built one a few years back, it flew quite well, but I made the mistake of covering it in a copper colored Monocote and one Saturday morning as I was going past "my" tower at Shannon, the Tower reached out and magnetically drew the copper Parasol into it. Now the only problem with that story is that copper is "magnetically transparent"...that is to say you cannot attract it with a magnet...so dam, I must of actually flew into that Tower....!
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking with it..!
Anyway, check the link to see some fantastic "older" designs that are available in short kits.
