This link takes you to a series of charts put out by Innov8tive designs (Lucien Miller) that should help those flyers who want to convert a model from 2 stoke glow power to electric. Appears that a lot of work went into these charts.

Good article, but I think it depends a lot on the type of plane and how you want to fly it.

The electric conversion I did on my Eaglet 50 which originally had a K&B 40 would need an 800 watt motor on 4s based on this information. I'm flying it on a 330 watt motor and a 3s lipo. It flies as well as it did with the K&B. I just weighted the plane, added the weight of battery and looked for a motor that would give me 120 watts per pound.

I am using a 12 x 6 prop where the original had a 10 x 6 and this guide is designed to use similar props. Maybe that's where the difference is.
