Lipo charging - low voltage error
Charger : iMax B6
Cell : 2S 7.4 rhino 610
When I start charge...charger checks battery and says "low voltage" ...won't start charge.
Am I to assume this battery is now damaged? ....strangely ...it is not the one from the Batjet...it's barely been used...
Is there a way to repair/reset? I can't get it to discharge...via charger...same error.
I have no problem losing the batt...but I want to do it safely if I have to.
Thanks!
Paul

Re: Lipo charging - low voltage error
Do you have a cell checker that can check each cell when plugged in? Is the battery puffed up?
Also check to make sure you're balance plug/connectors are firmly in place at both ends - lipo end and charger end.
Check if your lipo balance connectors are attached firmly to battery itself - I've had 2 occasions were the soldering came off and on my 3 cell one of my wire had come unsoldered.
It could also be that you've drained the lipo waaaayyyy too low - that is rare. If that is the case - it may be dead. A lipo battery should not be drained below 3.0v per cell. Chargers that come with RTF kits probably wont charge the lipo if a cell is below 3.0 volts. Not all chargers can bring these back - if possible at all. If you charge it at a very low amp rate and balance charge it, in some cases it can be saved. IF a lipo battery has a cell lower than 3.0 volts it was drained too low and may be defective in which case battery may be a hazardous paperweight.
This assumes that you've tried another lipo on your charger and the problem is NOT with your charger

Re: Lipo charging - low voltage error
Thanks Coyote!!!
All my other batts the same charged ok.....
I tried something I found on the Internet..from several sources...
Quick 3 min hit at NiMh at 0.1 for 3 min....brought voltage to 6.1v
Then normal balance/charge for Lipo took with no error.
Yes, I watched like a hawk for heat and puff....all ok.
I will advise on it's performance.

Battery is fine now. Just as good as the others.
Not sure what I did to it to drop voltage so low.

Re: Lipo charging - low voltage error
Keep an eye on this pack Paul ....my experience with a similar event is that after I stimulated the pack with another source and then slow charged it back to normal...when I let it "out to play" the next time it tended to get tired before all the other packs...indicating that the previouly weakened cell was now draining before the others.
...might not happen with your pack, but something that bears watching.

Thanks Bill!
I did make a big black "X" on the batt....and will watch it close!
