COVID-19 - Fourth Wave and Gathering Restrictions

Unread post by bdg » Wed Dec 22, 2021 5:13 pm

I know that everyone is tired of hearing - and living through - COVID but here we go again now that the highly transmissible Omicron variant is in Nova Scotia. We all know that there are renewed gathering restrictions for both indoor and outdoor venues. Being vaccinated is still helpful but is not carrying the same level of reassurance with respect to gathering limits.

Gathering restrictions (due to COVID) were discussed in yesterday's AGM. A take-away was for the Director's to review the latest gathering restrictions and to form a plan for our club. The challenge can be that in some cases, indoor and outdoor limits are at a maximum of 10 people while in other situations, gathering limits are 10 people for indoors and 25 people for outdoors. We are understanding that our HEFA club falls under a "recreation" category which is not (yet) well defined in the sections.

At this time, we are understanding that we are limited to 25 people in our outdoor venue. We ask that all members follow the standard health protocols including:
  • Never more than 25 people at the field at once (combined at pits and flight line)
  • Always maintain a minimum of 2m (6ft) of physical distancing to other people
  • Strong recommendation / preference to wear a mask at all times while at the field
  • Don't share equipment
We are all trying our best to interpret the requirements. Some useful links are below: At this time, we do not feel that the "Return to Flying" plan as previously prepared - especially the traceability requirements - needs to be reinstated. Version 7 of this plan is available here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5749&p=27336&hilit=covid#p27327. But there are some good suggestions in that document including:
  • Please do not come to the field if you are feeling ill
  • Maintaining physical distances between members
  • Use of masks
  • Gathering limit considerations
As always - we need to be erring on the side of safety. This is serious and I know that we all want to keep our fellow members safe. We are all in this together and need to support one-another through this process.

Please do not hesitate to reach out (HalifaxElectricFlyers@outlook.com) should you have any comments or suggestions regarding gathering limits or our interpretation of the heath requirements / rules.

Be safe out there.... always!

Sincerely,

Brian
