HEFA / SP Physical Distancing Recommendations

Unread post by bdg » Sat May 02, 2020 6:31 pm

Hello HEFA!

It seems like "forever" since we've been able to enjoy this hobby that we all like so much. Leaving our homes for only essential travel has been in-place for several weeks. With our provincial leaders now easing of some restrictions, I recognize that we are all very interested in some well-deserved time at SP. And Bruce is right that conditions are looking ideal for tomorrow.

But we absolutely need to be following - with great care - the continued requirements that are in-place and still mandated by our provincial leaders.

Some of the most important requirements include:
  • Limit gatherings to a maximum of 5 people
  • Maintain a minimum of 6 feet / 2 metres from others
Most importantly.... How can we best accomplish this?
  • Maintain spaces between parked cars. Like the approved provincial drive-in church program, make sure that you are parked at least 6' away from other cars. Leave an entire car width between your neighbor and we should be ok. Maintain our physical distances from others.
  • Only people from 1 household unit should be in each car.
  • People can’t exchange items between cars.
  • Let's limit the number of people out of their cars at any one time at SP to a maximum of 5, in-line with the provincial gathering requirements.
  • Always always always maintain a minimum of 6' between others. And if it is windy and a sneeze could travel further, then consider increasing this distance appropriately.
  • Let's limit the number of people at the flight line to maintain a minimum of 6' spacing. We would suggest that no more than 3 people on the flight line at a time would be a good starting point.
  • If you are sick, or exhibiting signs of illness (especially those key items which can be typical of COVID including fever, sore throat, cough, headaches, etc.), then please stay away for the short term. Continue to self-isolate at home until you are feeling better and are symptom free.
  • Only people from 1 household "bubble" or unit should be in each car.
  • People can’t exchange items between cars.
  • Let's continue to be thoughtful of others who might be waiting in their cars for a chance to fly. Please no more than a maximum of 2 flights at a time - less if possible - to allow others the opportunity to join in on the flight line.
  • And don't forget that you need a current MAAC membership to fly at SP. Membership at HEFA should also be in-place (typically up to three or so visits are okay as welcomed guests before joining HEFA is requested).
  • Introductory / Training flights will be on hold for the foreseeable future.
Let's continue to be safe and take care of one another and those most vulnerable in our society. Ultimately - let's look out for one another! I know that we will pull together to do what is right!

I believe that these HEFA requirements are in-line with the provincial requirements. But ultimately we need to follow those provincial requirements and certainly the interpretation of those regulations by authorities will prevail. Thanks!!!
