BBQ #3 - August 10 or August 11, 2019

Unread post by bdg » Sun Aug 04, 2019 5:30 pm

Celebrate the best of summer with your RC friends at HEFA. Come out and enjoy the nicely mowed field and warm hospitality at HEFA.

This is open to HEFA or MAAC members and to their families.

We're trying to squeeze this between all of the fun flys and upcoming Lawrencetown SlopeFest.

The event is free but donations will be accepted - if you are so inclined - to help defray costs to the club.

Hope to see you there!

A reminder that the BBQ is a GO for tomorrow. Winds look light tomorrow morning with only a chance of showers after noon. Let's have some fun!

Well...! I would say that our BBQ was a success. I am guessing maybe 30 people at SP today. Good weather. Light winds. Great food! Great people!

Thanks again to Bob for taking on the cooking duties that kept us well fed! It doesn't take long to go through 24 hamburgers and 24 hot dogs, that's for sure!

I am attaching a few quick captures of the pit area. Didn't get the full parking lot!!!

Also.... lots and lots of flying today. We hit the 5 pilot limit (in the air simultaneously) a few times. Lots of fun!

I had two flights of my own and then was able to get Jerry in the air for another training flight. Soooo close to a solo. Then supporting Frank, who is not yet a member but who I understand has purchased a Sport Cub.... we're focusing with the Apprentice on turns and straight and level flight. It's coming along but certainly a sim and more flight time will help. Then back to Jerry for two more training flights.... and nailing several of the landings so perfectly!

Jerry purchased his own Apprentice from MSC and is anxious to get it into the air....!

Tomorrow will be a shorter time for us at SP as we need to pack-up by 10:30am. I therefore expect that there will be fewer members out tomorrow.

I small crowd of a half-dozen folks at SP this morning. Great conditions. More training flights with Frank and Jerry.... and Jerry was nailing the landings... Oley!

We were packing up by 10:30am as required which seemed far to early for such a nice day. That said.... shortly after arriving home in Dartmouth I was greeted by the UK Red Arrows overhead. They seemed to be mostly centered over SW and put on a spectacular mini-show. Perhaps more of what is to come in less than 50 minutes when they are over the harbour at 2:00pm.
