Re: MAAC Wings Program
I agree with Andrew. I would really like to follow the MAAC wings program while flying with HEFA. Are there any plans to impliment the program now that HEFA will be a MAAC sanctioned club?Ghost Flyer wrote: I think this would be fun to do.

Re: MAAC Wings Program
Yes, Virginia...oops sorry, Murray, and others: There will definitely be a Training program. It may not be exactly as described by MAAC as their Wings Program but that program will be used as a basis for the HEFA program.
I can say that because HEFA must have a Training Program in place once we are Chartered with MAAC.
Again, these things will take some time to implement; but it will happen.
The "A" level of the Training Program is what new members need, and will require to pass, before being allowed to fly without a "winged" or Instructor member with them.
If you relate RC flying to Full Scale flying, it sort of follows that you don't turn a newbee loose without knowing that he has mastered the basics. Heck, take an airline pilot and hand them a Transmitter and watch them screw up as the model is flying toward them, and left is no longer left, etc..!
Basic take off, procedure turn, few trips around the field, no flying over the pit area, and a reasonably smooth landing, and a person is on their way to earning their "A" level.

Re: MAAC Wings Program
Congrats to Murray W. for elevating his status from "S" to "P" today at Shannon.
He did this by satisfying the Directors that he was completely in charge throughout a five minute flight with his Eflite Apprentice, which ended with a very successful three point landing at center field.

Hi Bruce, welcome to the website...
This thread, viewtopic.php?f=26&t=530 , will answer most of your questions regarding learning to fly RC and getting your "A" level wings.
We have a club trainer aircraft set up for dual control to assist newbees in getting started. It is a HobbyZone Cub, which is what we recommend a beginning flyer to start with.
The trainer belongs to our VP Rick MacDonald and he usually brings it to the field on weekend days, so drop around and we'll get you some time on it.
cheers,
Bill
HEFA/sect.

Re: MAAC Wings Program
It looks cold this morning but no wind. That's probably as good as it gets this time of year...
I will be at Shannon Park around 8:30 with SuperCub in tow.
