Unfortunately Saturday was a bust due to high winds....
Good turn-out to SP on Sunday. Temperatures just around freezing and winds were light but it was a cold day... perhaps the humidity in the air. Fair enough for a few very needed flights though!
Tim shared some video from his Mavic Mini. This is on FB at the following URL: https://www.facebook.com/HalifaxElectri ... 3600952450
Mostly video of Josh's glider; with a smidge of the flight line and some other planes for good measure!!

Very good video. Shows that sailplane and powered model flight can operate in a compatible manner without any conflict.

Thanks to Tim for going to the trouble of filming me; it is harder than it looks to get everything pointed in the right way, and to track a moving target! It is a real privilege to have so much fancy flying footage of my plane. We should really enter into an advertising deal with Der Himmlische Hollein eh?
There were incredible thermals Sunday morning at SP; I motored up to 100M around 9:00am and quickly found good lift. I alternated between rising up to 150M or so, and then descending with flaps, several times. It was a good test of the flaps for near-vertical descents and no flutter was observed. I don't understand why the thermals were so good that morning, as there was no sun at all, but I suppose we should take what we can get!

With more practice, and sunnier days, I hope to get much better videos. For the time being, sailplanes are certainly easier for me to track and, more importantly, avoid while wearing goggles. Perhaps Lawrencetown activities would some day provide better opportunities.
