Weekend - February 13/14/15, 2021

Unread post by bdg » Fri Feb 12, 2021 7:20 pm

Any brave souls out there? The forecasts vary slightly between Windfinder and WeatherNetwork but:
  • Saturday is looking cool and with some wind & gusts... wind chill around -10°C.
  • Sunday is looking better for sure - still cool temperatures but light winds and windchill near -8°C (this actually can be okay...!).
  • Monday is again light winds but cool..... windchill still in the -8°C range
Ok... so who is going to put their floats back on and try it out?

It's annoying how much difference there is between home and the field. No wind here, blowing a gale at the field. Only -4, but the wind made it feel very cold. No one else there, but I'll be back tomorrow.

No holiday for ne on Monday so I'll have to miss flying that day.

I was there until 9:30. Not a sole around.

No one plowed the field?

No float planes, but B25 is flyable and is now a belly flopper. Thinking of going with that.
Monday is a workday for me, so no chance of being out then.

I will be there tomorrow (Sunday) morning - for at least a while. It's supposed to be cool but winds should be very low which should allow for some fun!! Dress warmly! See you there!

Monday looks like the best day of the weekend - for those able to participate!!!

WHAT A GREAT MORNING! Cool but no wind. Lots of snow and great for skiis or floats - trying to get that "perfect" touch and go without a bounce can be a great challenge as the plane skims over the snow...!

Great maiden with Josh's new glider. Wow. Couldn't have gone any better. I have some video to process but in the meantime here are a few quick images....!

And tomorrow should be even better! Hope to see you then!

Thanks for the great photos Brian;
I’ll have to find a way to get the full-sized images off of you. I’d love to have these in high-res. The in-flight photos are especially lovely.

Thanks to everyone in attendance for your patience while I hogged the flight line! And a special thanks to John for his help, advice, multiple bits and bobs, and for lending me his sealing iron. Thanks also to Whacker up in the “adjective” Waugh’s River Valley for his endless help and advice throughout the whole build process.

Looks like I may be there Monday morning after all; if so, here’s hoping for many more flights!

A "quick" video of Josh's maiden flight is linked here: https://www.facebook.com/HalifaxElectri ... 6778062980

Tried to follow that large and slow plane with a quad... sounds easy, right? Well.. not so easy at least right now!
