Thanks for having me out to SP today everyone! It was fascinating to see all the cool planes in the air.
It was a bit of a Sailplane Bonanza; John had two mayflies and a Magellan, I had my Spectra, and there was another Mayfly and a Radian as well. The soarers were in good form!
I had to dive out of one particularly good thermal at the end of the day toward noon; I was laying in the grass watching the Spectra disappear into the æther and figured I should probably head on down. What a great sound it is, whistling gliders.
I tried to upload a photo of the sailplanes all together but it seems it’s too large to upload here, pity!

Josh - good to see you! Photo filesizes are limited to 2MB I believe. A free photo editing program such as FastStone will allow for file size reductions; as will higher versions of Windows and probably countless other programs. We'd love to see them!

Sadly this is the only photo I got, of all the sailplanes together.

Re: Weekend- August 22/23
The last two weeks have been very good for Sailplane Thermal flying at Shannon. To top this off we have had John Fennell maiden his Mayfly and visits from Joshua from West Dover.
Yesterday and today had low winds with medium to strong low level thermals allowing flights of 10 minutes to 15 minutes from 8 to 10 second motor runs.
This afternoon winds at Lawrencetown picked up to 30kph or more and Chris Dean and Andrew braved the elements. Take-off and landings were a challenge.

John, your Magellan looked pretty impressive in the air. Steadier than I had anticipated given the lack of dihedral. You mentioned another sailplane that you didn’t bring with you, what was it again? A hyper 2.3m or a Pike?
