Long Weekend - February 18, 2017
What a surprisingly great morning at SP this morning!! Nice to see the enthusiasts - roughly 6 of us - out to enjoy the conditions. Great for float planes or planes with skis! Maybe we'll see even more out tomorrow, when temperatures are supposed to reach +1°C!!!!
Suitable video from Rick Mercer!!! ..... http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2441558838
Oh! And be sure to wear bigger boots as the snow is deep!

Re: Long Weekend - February 18, 2017
I'm desperate to get something out on the snow Sunday...so I'll be resorting to the ole SSFB ..(Slow Stick Flying Boat) to address my craving.!
I'll save STUBBY, which has spent the last 342 days as a "Hangar Queen"...for Vic's Annual Fun Fly on the Lake, which is coming up shortly.

What a fantastic morning! Probably a dozen or more people at the field. Winds were nill and temperatures were near +7 deg C. No need for gloves or hats!
The snow was melting and getting sticky for takeoffs.... but great fun just the same!

Re: Long Weekend - February 18, 2017
A surprising mild day and good turnout.
I had my refurbished Pulsar 3.2m sailplane and got 23 minutes on three 14 second motor runs. Climb rates not as good on 15" propeller as on original 18" propeller (waiting long time from Hobby King for 18" replacement propeller) Altimeter showed equivalent of 10 minute + from 200m altitude in still air.
New fluorescent yellow bands on wing improved visibility.
Nice not to have freezing fingers.
