This site was passed on by Andrew Smith and is specific to a wide range of local sites. I have no idea of what their individual sources is but they work well. Even differentiate in readings between Halifax and Lawrencetown.
A good site to put on your bookmarks.

I've asked Rick (Web Administrator) to make this thread a "sticky" so it will remain at the top of the "Anyone Flying" forum so we can all reference it quickly in future.

Those wind speeds on the yr.no website are in metres per second, not kilometres per hour. Amazing how a Norwegian site has predictions for Shannon Park.

To convert multiply m/s by 3.6 to get you km/h. To expand on how I did this; speed in m/s X 3600 seconds in an hour / 1000 metres per kilometre. So (5 m/s X 3600)/1000 is 5 X 3.6=18

So 5 m/s should be about 18km/h or about 11+ mile per hour for the metric challenged.

3m/s is about 10.8 km/h

This is the way I calculate it. You may use other methods and arrive at your own answer.

I always have it set to knots and find it's pretty accurate, but only a day or two out as conditions change quickly. :D
