Weekend - August 20/21, 2022

Another glorious summer day at SP! After what seemed like several days of windy weather, the windy conditions finally subsided enough for some great times. Smaller crowd with the hotter temperatures, previous windy forecast, and other summer vacation / activities.

Michael was able to get his Apprentice up in the air for three more flights. This was after what seemed like a lot of adjustments to get the Apprentice working with his Gen 1 DX8. Definitely some challenges with the channels as there is a lot of secret and hidden "magic sauce" in the receiver. What displays in the DX8 monitor and which should work... well... it doesn't. In the end, I believe we needed to have AX1 set to 100% in order for the flight mode switch to be able to adjust the level (beginner / intermediate / advanced). The panic button needed to be set-up on another mix and currently only goes back one level (ie intermediate --> beginner or advanced --> intermediate) and the mix on the trainer button was not permitted. The trainer switch is indeed and option with the latest firmware but not with the older version currently on the transmitter.

On-top of the DX8, we were able to use some expo. Something else for Michael to get used to but this will help longer term for sure.

Tomorrow is looking like a very light-wind morning. I am not sure that I will be able to make it out but - if I don't - then have fun and fly safe!! There is also a lot of excitement building for some fun at LT. Check it out - you won't be disappointed with the experience!

Thank you Brian for your invaluable help, insight and knowledge with my Apprentice and DX8 gen-1-. The plane now taxis in a straight line. Yahoo.
Onto landing school.
