Great Planes Super Sportster BL EP RxR ARF

Unread post by RocketManRC » Mon Oct 17, 2011 2:57 pm

Ken (a.k.a. Duster) asked me to test his new Super Sportster foamy on Saturday morning. I thought it was way too windy but he wanted it checked out so he convinced me.

I was very impressed considering the conditions! In fact it was super stable in the wind and required no trim adjustments at all with the control surfaces centred. It is made of a new foam that Great Planes calls Aero-Cell which has a very smooth surface and probably helps with the performance in the wind.

As well as flying well on the windy test flight I was impressed that the whole thing comes apart easily including the tail fins. This means it would be easy to travel with which is something that I am always looking for.

It is also the right size to put small size skis on for the winter.

Here's a review on RCUniverse:

Oh and I should mention the price is right. It is receiver ready for $130.00.

Anyway, thanks for letting me fly it Ken and I hope you get a lot of use out of it this winter!

Actually that video is surprisingly accurate. I immediately felt comfortable with it and looped it, rolled it and even tried a bit of knife edge. It landed on a dime to boot. Maybe I'd hate it if there was no wind. lol.

Back in my 'Glow' days I used to fly this. Very nice sport model. I am a little surprised that more people don't fly it.
