Hey Bill
I can give it a go. Could you check the width etc to confirm correct printed size?
I have black, blue gray, green, and some medium gray, and some white.

Andrew
...this is an unusual shape, and I'll send some pictures later, but here are the maximum measurements...length 65mm, width 43mm, thickness of the present foam is 5mm. I presume the printed intake would slide over the present 5mm thickness of foam.

Measurements from the stl file are about 2.5mm bigger in each direction than what you measured Bill, so it should fit over the foam.
I'll print a partial to check it

Ok Andrew, should be an interesting test run. Grey would be my next color choice to red...but use anything you have.

For those people following this, here is what we are trying to replicate.

Those are tough photos to look at ...brings up the question "is this thing worth saving" ..problem is, they discontinued this model, so Yes, it would be nice to rebuild it..!

A second look at the model shown a few posts back tells me that this new printed intake REPLACES the foam intake ...I thought at first that it slid over the foam intake. I read on the SS thread that there was a weight concern with the printed intakes, which would affect the CG of the model.

Bill,

I have downloaded the file and opened it in my software and when I sliced it, it tells me it will take 16 meters of filament (1.75mm) and 6 hours and 23 mins at dynamic quality to print one. the software also says the weight would be 47 grams. At the moment I have no filament as I'm still waiting on my order to arrive, it was to have been here at the first of the week.

would adding ~ 94 grams of weight to your plane change the C of G too much for you?

Hi Keven.

Andrew contacted me around 6pm and he had one intake printed, so he brought it over and it was very close to the size of the foam one,,,just a tad larger. We weighed it and it came in at 30 grams. The foam one I cut off is 6 grams, so there is a difference. He is now printing a mirror image for the other side. I'll post some pics later. He said it took 3 hours to do one.

Hey Bill,
The printed one looks way better than your foam :D . I'm heading out this afternoon to pickup some filament as I can't wait for the Amazon shipment to get here. I'm completely out ...only 3 ft left from the sample pak that came with the printer.

Nice that the print job came in lighter than my estimate but still heavier than the foam hope it works for you.

Hi Kevin,

Yes..CG will be the next consideration...I'm planning on running a small 5S 2200mah lipo, so maybe I can shift it rearward an inch or so to get a decent CG.
