The manual for this Hangar9 Funtana40/S is dated 2003, so this ARF has some history. I bought it, new in the box, from Avon Flyers member, Mike six weeks ago...then realized, "Oh, I have to put a hatch up front to get the battery pack in", since removing the wing to do so would be a PITA..!
What I have done is to cut an opening in front of the canopy, following the balsa sticks that the factory used to create the round top. After framing the opening, I made a hatch using two layers of 1mm plywood, used two spruce sticks to hold the front down and a pair of magnets to hold the rear down.
The thinking here is that the battery pack will sit on top of the wing, strapped in with Velcro. I believe I have two options; either use two 2200mah packs, side by side in parallel, or one 4000mah pack by itself. In either case I have 5S packs in mind.
