Hey Bill -

I have same one and looking to put an 82 Saito or 91 ASP

Understand you had to put in a BEC to regulate voltage to 6 volt?

PS. Is it still flying. ;-)

Hi Marc,
Would you believe that it has not been maidened YET..I was thinking of coming to your field for the maiden as I would like to take it to MAST for their event on June27th...but if I don't get over, it may get maidened at MAST..!

The retracts do seem to be sensitive to voltage and operate better at the 6 volt level.

Hey Bill -

Did you have to put in a separate power supply (LIPO or LIFE) just for retracts?

I'm having same issues.

Retracts only seem to be dependable / reliable when I add a separate power supply (LIFE battery) hooked up to voltage regulator. If that's the case, I need to figure out another switch for retract power supply

Ended up putting a Saito 82 in mine. Now if only retracts would stop dancing around

I'll double check binding but I can't recall that being an issue

ADDENDUM:

If I just use an HK servo testor with retracts still in the wings (w ribbon wiring) and a LIFE battery (Turnigy nano-tech 1450 mah 20C) - they work flawlessly. So no binding issues.

When power goes through receiver, that's when retracts are uncooperative

Tried AR7000 and AR8000. I'll have to try one of my JR receivers

It's late Marc, but I'll give you my thoughts..re the retracts.

Since your running a fuel setup, I'm thinking you need a 2S lipo (8 volts) running through a UBEC (regulator) set at 6 volts, feeding the receiver.

Mine definitely work better (maybe a hiccup once every 25 cycles) when fed a higher voltage than 4.8vts. You just don't come in to land and drop the gear at the last moment...! When it hiccups, it may drop only one leg, or it may drop one, and pick it right up again.

Hope this helps.....I gotta get mine over there soon, maybe they each need company..!

Hi Bill -

Maybe it's a Corsair mating or maidening call?

Based on your comments, my Corsair won't be ready till upcoming weekend.

I don't like maidening or flying aircraft when there are still bugs you need to fix

Are you using 2S LIFE (2 x 3.3 v=6.6 v : 7.2 v max charge for 2S) or 2S Lipos (2 x 3.7v=7.4 : 8.4 max charge for 2S)

I'm using the 2S LIFE packs combo w 1450 mah and 20C.

Like I said, works fine w just servo tester but as soon as hooked up to receiver - they start a Newfoundland dance :D

Tks

I was thinking 2S lipo....however I'm surprised that a 2S Life is not working. One other thing I'll mention...do NOT use the Y adapter that comes with the Eflite retracts as it contains an amplifier....use a regular Y adapter.

Last one Bill -

Did you put in a separate power supply (LIPO or LIFE) just for retracts w BEC or

did you just use 1 battery w BEC to regulate voltage to 6V for receiver itself??

tks

Ok Marc, it's been a while (like a year) so I took mine down and went through the setup....here it is:

I'm running a 5S lipo pack through a big fat 100 amp esc that has its own bec, however I disabled this bec. I did this by adding a short 4 inch extension to the normal receiver lead and then cutting the red wire of the extension. (better to butcher the extension than cut the esc lead) So then I added a Hobbywing UBEC that has available two voltage settings, either 5 or 6 volts, controlled by a small jumper plug. I set this to 6 vts, and soldered a separate two wire plug, in parallel with the main power feed from the battery. This small jst plug feeds the UBEC and the output from this ubec feeds 6 vts to the receiver. The servos are now being feed 6 volts as well which keeps them crisp in their action.

Hope this is clear..
