Never did maiden the DeNight Special, so I'm thinking maybe this Sunday at Shearwater.
Spent a couple hours today, getting reacquainted ...found a couple items that required attention.
In a previous post I said this model weighed 8 lbs., well, not today..! It came in at 104 ozs, a mere 6.5 lbs.

A beautiful plane Bill but remember the new rule! If you maiden at Shearwater you will have to buy everyone coffee and I am sure there will be a lot of spectators at Shearwater! Maybe maiden at Shannon!

Good point Tom...! I had not thought of that. Actually we should only have that rule at HEFA fields..!
First reason for not using Shannon was weight....but now that it comes in at just 6.5 lbs., that reason is not holding too much water.
However, second reason is those 10" wheel pants...I think they would prefer asphalt to grass.
I could use a videographer for Sunday, if your available. I would like to document this one.
I'll discuss it with you Saturday.

Maiden flight done at Shearwater....turns out that those wheel pants get asphalt rash if you don't grease the landings.

Re: DeNight Special - a '50's Reno racer..
Had one of those dis-orientation situations yesterday and put the DeNight into the ground with damage to the Cowl, Hatch/canopy, motorbox, and wheel pants.
Ran the motor up today, appears to be alright. https://youtu.be/IAhSk_GO4QI
Motor box is salvageable with epoxy and triangle stock. Wheel pants are garbage ...no good on grass anyway, causing tipovers.
Cowl and Hatch/canopy will require several hours of cloth and resin repair.
..could have been much worse..!
