Inexpensive blades for hobby knife handles

I've recently been doing some building and have been unhappy with sharpness of locally available modelling knives and blades. The old thin double edge traditional blades are no longer stocked.
The blades that Bill received have curved surfaces (?) which I find hard to use.
I linked to RC groups where there a discussion on Swann Morton blades from the UK. Swann Morton are considered the Lamborgini of cutting tools.

I got 100 blades and a #3 Holder for $26 from the UK incl shipping. Almost double the cost of the Chinese blades, but with their reputation worth the effort.

The blades I have are individually wrapped and gamma radiation sterilized. So if you cut yourself .......

The cutting edge is straight.

I do not try to cut the excess length off the blade. It snaps off with pliers. The individual wrap of each blade makes this easier. Those that are loose packed, or multi packed are likely harder to handle. Just expose the handle end while leaving the rest in the package. Hold it down hard against the bench. Grip the end and bend up. The broken off piece stays in the pliers, the usable part is still in the foil pack.

I have an empty pill bottle with a slit cut in the lid. This becomes my 'Sharps' bin. Place all your xacto blades, scalpel blades, snap off utility knife blades, etc. in this. It becomes a safe way to dispose of them. If you have a toolbox with several of the snap off utility knives, as I do, then keep a separate pill bottle on the job site for those ends as well.

Bill, why not go to a medical supply place and buy a couple of scalpel handles. I've been using the handles and these type of blades for years. No need to risk cutting yourself. If you slip on one of these modifying it the cut will be deep.

Your correct Al...my supplier's name is "Sara" and after snapping off just one blade, I asked Sara if she had handles for these...the answer was "Yes" so I ordered a few. Like someone said, each handle comes with 10 blades. The handles are flat so no rolling off the bench.
