Great Planes Seawind... On a Lake

Unread post by bdg » Sat Aug 29, 2015 1:51 pm

Posted this last night and then deleted it.... thought that I would put it back. This is the water maiden for my new Seawind - following a single flight at SP to sort out the wrinkles. The music could be better and there is a glitch in the video editing... but thought that I would pass it along just the same.

Icon A5 from last year (partially recorded by my wife and 8 year old son): https://youtu.be/JIlYzONQLvk

This is a link to a friend's Icon A5.... https://youtu.be/uNf0xq8jVgs

Flying from the water adds another facet to the hobby. Just need to find the right place and to be as safe as possible.... and to have a back-up plan for recovery.

I like it Brian, so leave it up..!

That first video is very relaxing...nice tranquil location on a Monday morning, when everyone else is working...!
I don't see a shot of your rescue vessel...glad you did not require it on this day..!

I normally take a RC powered boat with me but thought that the Skipper would suffice as a back-up..... that didn't work so well. During a gentle roll of the Seawind, the canopy popped off (exactly when I was inverted) in the middle of the lake. Luckily, it did not hit the prop. It is foam and therefore floated but the Skipper delta wing wouldn't bring it back well. Luckily the wind was blowing towards the shore where I was and therefore I only ended up wading to my waist to recover it.

Fun times!

Those seawinds are a hoot. Looks like it has great get up and go coming off the water. Thanks for sharing Brian!
