T-28 USAF for ASIF!!

Unread post by asif » Wed Oct 28, 2009 12:16 am

It has arrived!

Can't wait to try this one --- I need to get a FUTABA reciever and a battery...
any recommendations for a quick buy before the weekend? I'm going to see if there is a 7 channel at the hobby store - I think the 7 is the smallest available for the radio I have...

Yup T-28 Trojan Air FOrce colours -- It sure looks nice!

hmmmm...this may be a problem -- I like getting new planes...hmmmm

I may need a secret bank account/.......

Cheers!

Asif you need the R617FS and Maritime Hobbies usually has them. If not Great Hobbies is showing them in stock:

If you have to order one I can give you a loaner until yours arrives.

There are Flightmax 3300 batteries at Mighty Small Cars (these are the ones from HobbyCity.com that a lot of us use - inexpensive). Call for store hours... they don't follow normal store hours as I understand it!

Hey guys,

Thanks a million -- I'll run out to both places and see what's there -- and be rigged up for the weekend -- although it is looking dodgy for the weather.....

But the next couple of days llok nice -- wish I weren't so busy!

Thanks again,

talk soon,

Asif... don't forget to get some Dean connectors. Male for the T-28's ESC and Female for each battery. (Solder and soldering iron if you don't have those items, as well)

Ah - right....will do!

I have a soldering iron and solder -- but I comepletely am the world's WORST at soldering.....

I can see if greg or John at the Hobbie store can do it -- I'm gonna try and go there tomorrow if I have a moment and hope they have a reciever in stock....

or maybe I can get some techniques and tips from you guys on soldering -- I'll bring what I have and get the Dean's connectors from them,

thanks a bunch!

Asif...
..if you go and Google "soldering deans connectors" ..it brings up close to a dozen videos on doing this..!

Importent things when soldering.... clean the items, "tin"the items to be soldered, have sufficient heat (a lot of poor solder jobs are due to insufficient heat!) make sure the solder "flows", finally hold the items (clamp) while the solder cools...

(we could hold a winter seminar on this some evening.)

good luck,

Hi,

I picked up the goods from MH today -- a couple of batts and a 7 channel receiver that they took out of a flight pak --- Greg soldered the deans onto the batteries ( Thanks greg!) for me and gave me a quick lesson -- I am going to attempt to do the ESC on my own....gotta try it to learn it!!!

If I feel like I'm going to ruin it - I'll wait....

I should be up and running soon!! But I have to finish these Symphony scores for tommorow - so gotta run!!

Take care and thanks everyone!
