Apprentice Built

Unread post by Dennis » Sat Jul 09, 2016 3:52 pm

Put together my Apprentice yesterday and charging the battery right now! Having a good time. Going to model all the physics for this plane as well.

Timing the first battery charge at a moderate 1.5 Amp setting. Lots to read in the two manuals (plane and tx).

Dennis,

Most batteries are charged at a 1C rating. Some can be charged higher but 1C is most typical.

For 1C with the Apprentice 3S 3200mAhr battery, 1C is 3.2 Amps.

Charging at a lower rate will work but it will just take longer. A new battery *should* be charged to roughly 3.8 V per cell. I would count on upward of 90-120 minutes to fully charge the battery. Charging at 3.2Amps would reduce a typical charging to roughly 45 minutes.

Hope that this helps.

Very helpful Brian. After 2 hours I cranked it up! During assembly I had one unexpected challenge. The bracket for holding the front wheel was upside down. Took me quite awhile to carefully remove it and reinstall the right way without bending the rod. Not easy for me as I have osteoarthritis in all my fingers. :)
