Watt Meters/Power Meters

Hi folks!

As a newbie, I thought this thread might be of use to other newbies. I recently purchased one of these devices and am teaching myself how to use it. So far, I have made some interesting discoveries when comparing the Amperage draw from 2 of my planes at full throttle and using the same battery. More on that in the near future.

What I would like is for you, folks with "the know", to take a look at the product I purchased, and give me your thoughts (good or bad) and compare it to the device you own/use. All other comments/questions are also welcome, even if you don't own this type of device. Perhaps you have made your own?

Hey Murray I have that same watt meter and have been very happy with it. One of its best features is it remembers the peak amps and watts so you don't have to look at the readout when you are testing. I also have an EagleTree data logger and used it to check the watt meter and the measurements agree within a few percent. The advantage of the EagleTree system of course is you can fly with it and record the data during flight but it is not as convenient to use as the watt meter so it is useful to have both eventually.

I would like to see the EagleTree device you are referring to some day. When I started this "journey" a few months ago, I had no idea how much stuff was involved. I find it all very fascinating!
