Big one Coming

Unread post by JohnOSullivan » Thu Oct 04, 2018 5:55 pm

I've just ordered a new sailplane, It is a 4 metre Pulsar. Similar to my current big model, but 25% larger.
In spite of the size it will still be under 4 pounds so OK for Shannon.
I got it from Hyperflight in the UK and even with UK shipping beats Esprit and a Canadian supplier by $200.

Nice John. Were you able to choose a colour?
If you ordered it yesterday I bet you'll have it by next Friday.
That was the time frame for my AndREaS from Neil.

Looking forward to it. Guess I'll have to start saving to keep up...LOl

This is the newly introduced Compact version of the 4m Pulsar.
Wing is 4 piece each 1m long and fuselage pod has a carbon extension into which the tail boom plugs and secured with a screw. Packs into a 1m space which is fine for my new car.
Colours are yellow centre panels and red tips. Red tail and yellow fin all topped with a yellow fuselage pod.
I'll be using the Hyperion 3025 motor that I have currently in my 3.2m Pulsar running at about 600 watts. Alternatively I'll be using my AXI 2826/12 with about the same output. I'll have to check the outputs and the more powerful one will go in the big one and the other in my 3.2m Pulsar.
Originally I was using 2200 3 cell Lipos, but for the past 2 seasons I've used 1800 3 cell lipos which work just as well.

Model is full house with aileron, flaps, rudder and elevator.

Good thing John, that it is not all red because it is a 4m competition sailplane. And you know what they say about red 4m competition sailplanes https://vimeo.com/18860450

Now that is funny Andrew !! I am sure this is John O 's philosophy as well but he would rather have you believe it will just fit in his car better! Maybe he went out and purchased the new car so that he could then go out and purchase the new compact 4M Pulsar.
