Need to thread a switch

I bought a second hand DX6 and one of the switches was missing its nut because the seller could not get it on. Don't know why he took it off, but anyway when I tried to screw it on it is cross-threaded so bad it won't go on more that a turn or two. Does anyone have a die to cut M6 x .75 I can use to re-cut the threads? Pretty sure that's what the thread is, but we could check the thread on the nut to be sure as the nut is OK. I tried it on another switch and it screwed on fine.

So close, Bruce... I have a 60-piece Mastercraft tap and die set. M5-.8 and M6-1.0 are the closest in the set. Sorry! I might be easiest to pick up a single die?

I've got that size too, but the threads are finer. I may end up re-cutting it with that size if all else fails.

If the switch works OK , why not just glue it into place with epoxy.

Thanks everyone who help me with my switch trouble. Luckily Bob had an old broken switch. Oddly enough the beauty nut on it fit my switch perfectly even though the nut I had fit all the other switches on my transmitter, I checked, but not on his broken switch or even my switch. I can't fathom how one switch would have a different thread than all the rest or why his fit, but I'm all set now.

Likely one is 1/4-40 and the other 6mm; both are use in small switch bushings. If the nut binds after a turn or so but is still square on the bushing it's not cross-threaded, it's the wrong thread (inch size would be equivalent of metric 6.35mmx.635, would be a little extra loose until it binds).
