My memories of Steve will always bring a smile to my face, in spite of the sadness of having lost such a great guy.

Here are a couple of photos from the Shearwater Rocket Day last summer, which illustrate Steve's unfaultering sense of fun. Anyone around him couldn't help but have a good time.

He will be sorely missed by all who's lives he touched.

Steve was such a nice guy. Several years ago, he visited my home a couple of times to help me with some heaters and thermostats. I really enjoyed the times that we spent together, flying small planes in the evenings, one summer, at SP. I was always in awe of his RC pilot skills; how he could roll his plane in a turn back to the runway, and end up inverted and flying around so easily. And he was an amazing story teller! His smile and laugh was infectious, and I can still hear his voice my head, when I think about some of those great stories. Some of the greatest moments that I know we've all enjoyed were when Steve and Rick MacDonald would get into some fun-to-watch aerial combat with streamers on their planes :) Always had fun watching that, and even sometimes in the mix of it with my Super Fly.

I have a ton of photos that I'll post over the coming days.

He and his family are in my thought and prayers.

We had a common interest.....our "need for speed"..! It shows in the attached video, shot by Brian G last year.
Steve never delivered a bad launch unless it was due to a failure of mechanical parts.

Listen for his delightful comments in his "Governor Arnie" voice..!
In future speed flights, I hope to hear him say.."oh, that's a good one Billy"...!

On FB is this obit:

Wiper, Stephen Douglas, age 52 of Cole Harbour, NS passed away peacefully on March 28, 2019 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Following graduation from Dartmouth High School, Stephen proudly served in the Royal Cdn Navy for 12 years, and was especially proud to have served during the Gulf War.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife Lisa (Thibeau) and his two loving sons Matthew Douglas (Halifax) and Michael William (Edmonton), and his baby girl Lucy.

Stephen is also survived by his loving parents Whitney Douglas and Helen Marie (Lake Echo), his brother Stacey (Carolyn) of Hammonds Plains and sister Susie (Mike) of Porters Lake.

Uncle Steve will be forever missed by his nieces (Courtney, Britney, Madison, Morgan and Taylor), his lifetime friends and his whole extended family from Leamington, Ontario.

Stephen's great love of life, sense of humor and anything that flew will be greatly missed. Also a regular feature on his neighborhood-street activities acting like a big kid, he was also affectionately known as “Big Steve.” His garage and Saturday Night Classics will never be the same.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 4, 2019 (12:00-2:00 pm) at the Royal Cdn Legion Centennial Branch 160 (703 Main Street, Dartmouth). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Remains have been entrusted to the Atlantic Funeral Home and a private family internment will occur at a later date.
