I wanted to share some of the pictures from the build thread that Al Coolen has posted on the Avon Flyers website. Between the building by Al and the terrific paint job by master painter Todd Fowler, these two guys have created an RC work of art.
Here is Al's first post on his thread from early in January 2018:
I acquired this from Todd a little over a year ago. Mike was original owner and the work he completed is top notch. It was about 2/3 framed up . So the reality is it's about 1/4 done. Depending on the detailing maybe even less.
So I'm going to give it a go but I have to admit in recent years I'm having trouble getting these big projects done.
Wingspan : Top wing: 120 inches, Bottom wing: 107 inches (True scale airfoil)
Fuse length : 91
Wing area: 3 966 Sq. inches
Wing loading: 26 ounces / square foot.
Cubic wing loading: 5.09. Values between 4 and 6 are sailplane/glider values.
Cowl diameter: 13"
Plug-in wing and stab panels
This is what I hope to create

..Here's an update ..."It FLYS..!", is the report today from owner/builder, Al. "A bit of a bear", he says, so still a work in progress.
Congrats Al, one heck of a January to June project..!
