Wow, I didn't realize there were so many aspect to control line. I had one when I was a kid, but it only made me dizzy and crashed a lot.
MAAC: 19887
I never crash, I just create exciting ways to meet the ground. After all, take-offs are desirable, landings are inevitable.

i can't quite believe what i just saw - like, combat control line?!! seriously?
close quarters, i would definitely wear a mouthguard!

pretty entertaining video - how about those circle dancers, holy crap, incredible

as a side note, having never control-lined powered planes, i actually did control-line a small slope soaring foam glider (no radio or control surfaces) several years ago - will have to do that again and get video evidence! - the glider was upwind (seaward), and i was controlling it with 3 lines, i think, (pitch and yaw/roll), holding it back from penetrating out to sea. i still have that little plane i think...

Re: Who knew they had so much fun doing this
I flew Control Line in the mid 50's to mid 60's and it was a lot of fun. Mostly Team race ( a more sophisticated racing class than Goodyear) and Combat. I did very well in team race but was not much good in combat.
About 8 years ago, I had a phone call from Sao Paolo, Brazil and the caller asked me if I was the John O'Sullivan who had the fastest 1/2A team racer in the mid 60's in Ireland . It was from Joe Devenish who was on the World Championships Brazilian Team Race team at that time .
I had flown with him in Ireland in the 60's ( when he was known as "Devilish Joe Devenish" . He asked me if I had the plan and sure enough I had (and still have) the original plan. I re-traced the plan and sent it to him, which he then built. The plan is now on Outerzone Plan site.

That's me on the left with my buddy Tim Holding the Claim Jumper.
Still have the original Oliver Tiger motor and would like to build the model again.
