Shearwater FunFly (15 July 2017)

Unread post by Coyote » Thu Jul 06, 2017 10:02 pm

Hi HEFA Flyers...

Just a reminder that our FunFly is upcoming next weekend (15 July).

I should point out that this could very well be the last FunFly where you can say "I landed my plane and I still had another 9,950 ft left"

Prizes and fun plus 10k runway

Thanks for the post , Marc.

I have, this evening, reminded HEFA members that we cannot use the Shannon field, since we are in between leases. We hope this situation will change in the days ahead, however there are no guarantees.

In the meanwhile I have reminded the members that they have access to the SRCF facility for the nominal daily fee of $2.00 and also that they ALL will be welcome to come by next Saturday for your Fun Fly.

cheers,
Bill

To ALL HEFA members....

Even though we got a last minute renewal of our field lease at Shannon Park, I hope to see a bunch of you at the Shearwater Club's Fun Fly this weekend. As Marc indicated above it could be the last chance to have the entire 10,000 feet runway available for the annual Fun Fly.

Flying will go from 9am to 4pm ...registration fee of only $5.00 gives you a ticket to the BBQ, as well as chances at prizes; and as usual the day long commaraderie is FREE..!

Keep in mind that if the Saturday weather is not good, the event will go on Sunday; so you must keep an eye on either this website of the SRCF website for further updates.

cheers,
Bill

Just got on Intellicast and they have, in anticipation of Shearwater's Fly-In, cancelled tomorrow's rain.
Winds ESE max velocity 10 kph. Just Perfect!!

It is too bad that you cannot get the directions to the Shearwater Fly in without signing up to a website.

Asking a rhetorical question;

"Why do organizations that try to encourage the public, block the public access to such information as directions to the field?"

Seems like an effort to dissuade people from going.

Have had several people ask me how to get there. I can't tell them and they can't find out. Neither can I.
Nothing like the smell of electrons in the morning ;-)

I have no idea what you are talking about Jim? The forum for the SRCF club is most definitely accessible to anyone in the world with an internet connection. There is no need to sign up to a website.

I just had my girlfriend (who is not signed-up) try it, and it works just fine. All she did was type in the name of the club "shearwater rc flyers" in Google, and presto, instant link to the forum with all the relevant information.

Here's the link to the specific event info to make it even easier: http://shearwaterflyers.proboards.com/t ... -july-2017

There's even a thread on that forum with a map and directions to the field: http://shearwaterflyers.proboards.com/t ... ying-field

See, easy!
