Well, here we are, eleven months later, and I drove to Berwick today and picked up my 80 inch Cub kit from Adrian. He gave me a demo of what his new laser cutting machine can do in about three minutes when it cuts out nearly the complete fuselage for this kit from a 24"x48" sheet of lite-ply. Very impressive indeed.
It's even more impressive cutting 6mm Acrylic, with no burn marks at all along the edges. As well as cutting kits, his business consists of sign making, so this new tool will definitely be kept busy.
I must find out what's involved in having a set of plans converted into computer files in order to cut the parts. I have a large PBY-5A plan that's 35 years old that might be a candidate for this.
Looking forward to a winter project building the 80" Cub and doing it up in a military L4 Grasshopper look.
