Weekend of July 16 & 17, 2011

Unread post by RocketManRC » Fri Jul 15, 2011 2:19 pm

It looks like it is going to be much too windy on Saturday for new pilot training however Sunday looks good.

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it out on Sunday morning however other Instructors should be available.

If it's not blowing too hard, I will be there Sat from 6:30 to around 8:00.

Sunday I am good for the entire morning.

I am on call for work so I don't know when I am available, and I may have to leave at a moments notice.
If someone is around Sat AM, I will try and drop off the club trainer. Karl may be upgrading to buddybox so I will try and get it to him.

Also, Windguru shows Sat afternoon to be calm. May get out then for some flights....work permiting.

Intent is for me to be there early Sat and Sun. I weather cooperates, I may return Sat evening

If you don't know who I am, I normally have a Boston Bruins baseball cap on or GreenBay Packer cap on. My picture is also posted here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1680 (the guy with the "Big Stick" - always wanted to say that ;-)

As Rick stated, winds for Sat are likely too windy for new flyers (13-15 km p/h). Sunday looks pretty decent.

That said, normally winds don't pick up till 1000 AM, so if you're early enough you may get a flight or two. If you're not sure take a look around your neighbourhood, look at top of trees or flags. Slight breeze is fine (flags would only be slightly waving and small branches/leaves would be barely moving or only slightly). If flags are fully stretched out or branches at top of trees are moving back and forth, then very likely too windy.

If the winds take a break I plan to be at the field for 8:30ish both Sat. & Sun. until noon and available to lend a hand.

Too windy this morning - any goalposts still on the field? Maybe this evening around 7 if wind dies down (not holding my breath)

Forecast proved great - barely a breeze this evening.

Two students were able to get some flights.

At it again tomorrow early ;-)
