Multicopter tubing....

Unread post by Metalhead » Wed Feb 09, 2011 2:12 pm

Hi Everyone,

I checked out the cost of buying some lengths of 1/2" aluminum tubing. 0.065 wall, to build these....

I got a quote from Russell Metals for 2 x 20' lengths for $100 bucks.

The cost is quite a bit higher than i thought, and when i asked why, it turns out that this is not a "normal" stock item and the majority of the cost is shipping cost. The actual cost of the tubing is ~ $16 per length.

What this means is that the more you order, the cheaper it gets per length as the shipping will essentially remain the same.
