The DX8 deal has beeen sweetened with a "free 2nd 8000 receiver".....this could be a deal breaker...not sure if this is from HH but it would seem so..! I got the news from THIS link.

The 2 for 1 AR8000 receiver deal, with purchase of a DX8 radio, is a limited time deal from Horizon Hobby to their dealers.
Geoff at MSC has two sets backordered for end of May delivery, I have spoken for one.

Re: Spektrum's latest radio..the DX8
Spektrum finally admits to potential issue between DSMX equipped Tx and DSM2 Rx.
See bulletin at http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Supp ... Id=SPM8800
Mine was already on it's way back to them and should be there tomorrow. Hopefully I will have it back in a week or so.
Edit: It arrived there today and was back out the door in no time. Can't complain about the service!

Re: Spektrum's latest radio..the DX8
The Spektrum module for my Futaba radios died on me this week. I had been using that to support the BNF aircraft that I have. For various reasons I decided not to replace the module and to go for a separate radio instead. The DX8 seemed like the logical choice.
My initial impressions: it seems really poor quality construction compared to my Futaba. But the user interface seems hugely better especially for new users. And of course the telemetry rocks!

karlpenney,
Just curious, when you sent your radio back did they give you any tracking number to access that information in your post.
I login into my account at Spektrum site and do not see anything like that and the only emails I received was an auto-reply and I had to send another request a month later and got the same reply email. The shipping label arrived and I have shipped it back, but other than UPS I see no where to track my DX8 once they get it.
Even tried the Ticket# that was on the UPS label at the Horizonhobby site but it was unknown. Starting to think I may never see my radio again.

Once the UPS tracking shows that is has been received, HH should send you a ticket number that you can use to track it's progress. I think I got an email from them with the number. Mine got in just before the service bulletin came out, so it got through pretty quick. Not sure what the average processing time is now.

Re: Spektrum's latest radio..the DX8
Just before I bought my DX 8, I called HH tech support on Tuesday to ask a few questions. They said the turn around time is about 3 weeks for Canada, right now. Luckily, my new DX8 is a newer release version and isn't included in the service bulletins.
