Looks like it might be mid Sept before I see it again. HH only showed it as Checked In middle of this week.

My DX8 is on the recall list for the DSM2 issue but I am waiting for the next recall before I send it in. What recall you may ask? Just wait for it... Anyone who wants to bet on it just let me know ;)

I don't have any DSM2 receivers anyway except for micros so I don't really care.

Note that if you're using DSMX receivers (like the AR8000 that came with it) then you are not affected by the service bulletin for the DSM2 issue. However, there is also another bulletin for a potential gimbal issue.

Hopefully the service backlog will dwindle down over the next couple of months and they can be serviced more quickly. The two DX4e that we have for the club trainer are also affected by the DSM2 bulletin and should be sent in sometime, if only for the chance to get a free Rx out of it. I already have a shipping label for them.

My DX8 only came with DSM2 electronics. (AR8000 and TM1000 both marked DSM2) It did not even have an option to use DSMX until I updated the software on it when I got it home. I only have DSM2 receivers at the moment so not much choice but to send it back for service.

I checked it for the Gimbal problem and it did not appear to have the issue. Hopefully they will check it against other recall bulletins while they have it.

Even though some AR8000 are marked DSM2, all AR8000 are actually DSMX. It was just a marketing thing. DSMX had not been announced at the time the initial batch of AR8000 was released.

I was told that the radios are checked against all bulletins when they come in.

Several Spektrum receivers are DSMX even when they are marked DSM2.
The AR 6255 that I bought last fall for my DLG is X even though it is marked 2.
Shows how long they waited to announce it.

I just got my radio back today so that was ~14 business days from the time they received the unit and it was sitting back on my doorstep. They even included an AR6115e receiver as a bonus gift.

HobbyKing now has a 4000mah 2S Lipo available for the DX8 at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for the info, Karl... I'm going to order one because I don't like how quickly the stock nimh battery discharges.

I estimate that my stock battery lasts me almost 3 hours of total flight time. It drops quickly to around 5.0V and stays there for quite a while. I usally recharge when it drops below 4.7V.

I don't really need the Lipo, but I might get one anyway next time I order from HK.
