Cameron coming Home..!

Unread post by retiredVTT » Mon Feb 01, 2016 12:30 am

Saw this on the late CTV news tonight....local man working in Alberta takes sick with cancer in November and the medevac fee to get him home, to his beloved Lawrencetown Beach, is $47,000.

This "Go-Fund" has raised $37,000. and could use any help we could give...

14 hours later and the total is now $45,000 so people are rallying.

Some interesting facts...the medevac fee of $47,000 is to bring a person from Alberta to NS and the plane returns EMPTY.
If they have a patient on the return flight, the cost is reduced to $35,000 each way.

A fee of 2.9% of the money raised is charged by the fund raising people who provide the means to do this. This seems reasonable, but you should read the comments that some people post about this fee being outrageous. Give me a break..! Reminds me of not flying a model, because it might crash..!

I heard that as well today on the radio while driving to NB. It looks like he is going to get home with all his family. That is good news.

Yes, the latest update at 5pm today says they have reached their goal with over $48,000 raised.
I believe Cameron is actually from Lower Sackville, but it was the glorious Lawrence-town Beach that he wanted to see one last time, and we modellers can relate to that. No crashing surf in Alberta..!
