Re: Flash Flood - AUSTRALIA
Flash Floods are not to be underestimated.
A couple of shots from our exploration bush camp in Gaspe in July 1980.
Our camp with 6 tents was hit with a 8 ft flood rise in 4 hours which took out the camp. Only one tent was left standing. A 2 month old Chevy pickup was finally located 3/4 mile downstream, and tents and propane bottles were located 12 miles downstream in the Bay of Chelure. It happened on a weekend, so most of the student crew were on break in town. About 6 people had to walk 12 miles to the nearest road.
