Upcoming Indoor Season

Unread post by bdg » Wed Oct 01, 2014 8:51 pm

This looks like a decent price for a RTF Ember 2 which would be great for slow-flying this winter in a gym.

$90 from RC Wings; $100 from GreatHobbies (not currently in stock) not sure about MSC or MH as I have not seen them there just yet.

The AS3Xtra is hands-down my favorite but more expensive, more advanced and perhaps more fragile:

Doesn't look like RC Wings have them either.

This is from the bottom of the page for the Ember 2 that Brian linked to above.

Check out the new umx spacewalker at MSC, also 90 bucks less the current 10 buck discount offered by eflite. Very light little gym flyer that should be the equal of the ember 2.

And certainly a lot prettier!

I can confirm it's a great little flyer and can fly very slow and has a touch of speed when needed. Very similar to the ember.

Pretty sure the ember 2 is discontinued.

Note: all are welcome to the weekly ASRCM indoor over the winter. We start on Friday night, Oct 17th.

Al,

I remember you mentioning the Spacewalker - it does look like a real contender for indoor fun! And these were definitely available at MSC and are offered with a $10 HH instant rebate.

I picked up one of those Spacewalkers from MSC a few weeks ago. I gotta open the box and have a look..!

Al, remind us where your indoor sessions are held. Friday night sounds interesting.

So does Wednesday afternoon in Kentville, I hope that goes again this year.

Bill, this year we are flying at the riverside elementary school here in Milford. Haven't seen this gym yet, but I'm told it is a double gym so should be great. Due to scheduling difficulties we change to Tuesday nights in January. Weekly 7-9.

Thanks Al, finding venues that suit the required time slot is definitely a challenge.

I'll pass your info along to others.

An email from Barry Lloyd tonight Bill.

Hello all,
I recently spoke with Dwight MacLeod, Executive Director of the Valley Sports & Multipurpose Facility and he is once again pleased to schedule time for weekly Indoor Flying sessions. Both fixed and rotary wing models are welcome.First session is set for this coming Wednesday, October 8th, with weekday, time and cost the same as last year, Wednesdays from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at $10.00 per person per session flat rate.Total flying space is approximately 220'L x 110'D x 30'H, part of which is dedicated to helicopters. Red pylons will be placed on the floor to mark that area.  Heli flyers are asked to limit models to no larger than the "250 class size".The area designated for fixed wing flying is open for general indoor flying. cheers,-- Barry

Thanks for posting that email from Barry, Al.

I'll make sure that info gets to our members, as I think more of us will take advantage of this venue.

The dimensions of the Valley complex work out to 726,000 cubic feet. As a comparison, we flew one day at the new Canada Games Centre which was billed as 800,000 cubic feet, and it sure was large...and so was the cost at $400.00 for two hours. So a near equal space for $3.33 an hour per person is un-believe-i-cable..!
