Ok.. as promised here are some rules for the upcoming Indoor Flying session starting Nov. 7th/2010
An email has gone out to all HEFA members as well with this info.

Bill

HEFA Indoor Flying Rules:
November 1st, 2010
Some rules pertaining to the 2010 Indoor Flying sessions:

1. We will try “timed” sessions for the following different classes of model:
Slow flying fixed wing; Fast flying fixed wing; Helicopters; Open class.
(A maiden flight could be relegated to the “open class”)

2. A weight limit of 16 ounces (1 pound) for fixed wing models will be mandated.

3. Helicopter size allowed is anything smaller than the 300 class for flying about the gym.
The 300 class heli on training gear will be allowed for hovering purposes only.

4. ALL flyers will require a current MAAC membership. This includes all junior flyers.
Junior membership in MAAC is approximately $10.00 per calendar year and the Treasurer can sign
a junior member up onsite.

5. Cost to flyers for each 2.5 hour session will be:
$15.00 per session for adult flyers,
$5.00 per session for junior flyers, (under 18 yrs)
$20.00 per session for “family” flying…. (All flyers from the same residence)

6. The Directors have the final say on the suitability of any model.

HEFA Indoor RC Flying will be held at the Citadel High School (Bob Douglas Gym) 1955 Trollope St, Halifax, on November 7th and 21st as well as December 5th and 19th between the hours of 12 noon and 2:30pm.

I think that the biggest concern with helis is the potential of damage to the building so yes the Gaui 200 would probably be fine even though it might clear the area of people :-)

I believe that we will have to assess the suitability of helicopters on an individual basis so everyone bring yours along and lets see.

Oh my, that first video is amazing!

Good idea Bill. Google Maps Street View rocks except for those nasty long links.

TinyURL is one fix -- http://preview.tinyurl.com/2czcu4n

Driving up and down the streets with the arrow keys & looking around with the moust is bloody amazing.

It's looking good for a nice turnout on Sunday Nov 7th at noon...

Couple of suggestions that I'll pass along...

..try to have the correct change if you can, helps speed things up.

..think about bringing a bottle of water for yourself, could get dry in there after an hour or so.

..if the weather is very rainy, heavy socks might be in order, as we could be asked to "unshod ourselves".
(later on, the outer footwear will be removed at the gym door and stored behind the door.
