Happy New Year.... Into 2019!!!

Unread post by bdg » Mon Dec 31, 2018 7:07 pm

Happy New Year!

While winter is upon us - seemingly with a vengeance with these cold temperatures - we have an exciting year coming up for HEFA.
  • Many members have been taking in the Shearwater Indoor at their Gym - Sunday mornings 9:00am to 12:00pm. This is a great venue with great people!
  • Our field has been renewed again in the normal 6-month allotment until the end of June 2019
  • An expression of interest was made at the AGM to try to get together through the winter to review RC and to learn from one another. Suggestions included: (1) How to set up a radio.... this can be a tough one... there are so many different versions out there and everyone will have different areas of focus; (2) How to cover a plane with monocote (or similar), (3) Fiberglassing - could be difficult depending on the venue as we can't be leaving a smell or mess!
Ultimately - Please reach out with your thoughts and plan to help if we want to make this happen!
  • The annual Shearwater Hobby Show - typically April 6/7 or so. Any help to promote RC flying, MAAC, SW and HEFA would be appreciated!
  • Training Opportunities - I believe that our crashed Apprentice will be put back into service, thanks to Rick! Then we will have (2) club trainers, along with the club Radian held by Andrew S. If you are interested in supporting training within HEFA, then please let us know. This helps to put new pilots on the right path, grows our club, and is very rewarding.
  • BBQs - we will continue to have BBQs as the weather improves
All in all - exciting times ahead.

I would also like to remind everyone again that HEFA and MAAC memberships run on a calendar year and - for the vast majority of us - our 2018 memberhips would have expired today.
  • It is best to renew your MAAC on-line (https://secure.maac.ca/members/en/?msg=renew) and this can be easily completed with PayPal or with a credit card. You can also call the toll-free number at the MAAC office and connect with the office with your details. Or, if none of this works, then reach out to me, or one of the Directors, and we will help you through the process. You will receive a card in the mail with your wallet card. Anyone can validate MAAC memberships from the "Validate Membership" tab on the http://www.maac.ca website.
  • HEFA memberships are through a $50 payment to any of the Directors. A printable renewal form is located at viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2004
Once again - Happy New Year! The weather for flying at SP is not looking good for tomorrow.... but better weather is coming!
