A new onlooker happened upon SP today with a camera and requested to take a few photos. We were able to explain the nature of the hobby, our club, and our affiliation with MAAC and with Transport Canada. I offered a training flight and shortly afterwards learned that he is a reporter with haligonia.ca. He was learning the sticks nicely but was only on the buddy box for a fairly short flight.
His article is on their webpage: https://haligonia.ca/flying-high-with-the-hefa-203343/
They have also linked this on Facebook with close to 100,000 followers.
It is great to be part of such a welcoming club!
Brian

What a tremendous boost to the hobby.
The myriad of Club organized Fun Flies and contests are constantly ignored by the general press, but when one roving reporter turns up at a regular weekend session he has the intelligence to recognise the significance and scope of a very constructive and educational hobby,
We need more of this type of exposure to the public.
One of the few guys who has not lumped us in with mindless drone mavericks.

A great and informative report Brian; very well done, and it shows how well you and the members contributed the Club information to the reporter. My congratulation to all of you !
You had a excellent day to demonstrate the flying capabilities of our models, in glowing sunshine and low winds.
I spent the day at the Avon field in Windsor, with my Cub which is on the borderline of being too large for our Shannon field.
I've always been proud of the way HEFA members and Directors make sure visitors to our field are welcomed, and even encouraged to get a chance to experience "stick time". Once again Brian, you, and the members have stepped up and swung for the fences.
..thanks all,
Bill
