SHANNON FIELD LEASE EXPIRED SEPT 30/16

THE HEFA LEASE with CANADA LANDS EXPIRES FRIDAY MIDNIGHT SEPTEMBER 30, 2016 which means HEFA members will no longer have permission from CANADA LANDS (the land owner) to use this site.

WITHOUT PERMISSION, HEFA MEMBERS are NOT covered under the MAAC LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICY, if an INCIDENT occurs.

HEFA MEMBERS ARE BEING DIRECTED BY THE EXECUTIVE TO CEASE FLYING AT THE SHANNON FIELD ON OCTOBER 1ST, 2016.

Flying can still take place at our Porter's Lake Field, and a work party is planned for there this Saturday morning, Oct 1/16 commencing at around 10AM.

Did the club approach Canada lands for a short term extension of flying permission until actual work is started on the field?
It would seem that if no active work is being carried out that they may give us a break. A long history of flying with respect for the field and attention to safety issues should be a plus for such a request.

The directors did put in a request to Canada Lands for an extension to our lease.
I assume as they are directing us to cease flying at Shannon Park as of Friday at 11:59:59pm that the response was negative.

Hi Bruce and Adam,

The primary concern this weekend is to get the trailer cleaned up...(we have had some very small multi-legged visitors since we left); as well we need to do some raking and weeding on the crusher dust runway.
With the trailer we need to remove everything from both halves, wash down the walls with "spray 9", vacuum up the floors, and return everything.

I'll bring a vac, small jug of water, rags, and Spray9, Brian will bring a generator, and perhaps a weed whacker.

So bring a rake and gloves, and everyone is allowed ONE plane...!

My plan is to go to Shannon around 8am, (bound to be a few members not up to date), as I have a MAAC proxy form for members to sign; then it's on to the Porters Lake field around 9am.

I am tentatively planning to go to Shannon at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 30th to fly some planes. Hope to see a few others there.

I was down at SP today in the early afternoon for about 1.5 hours. Calm winds and sunny skies (along with no classes at the school today) made for a very enjoyable flying session.

To all HEFA members:
Be advised that the lease we have with Canada Lands for permission to use the Shannon Park field expires at midnight tonight, September 30th, 2016.
The MAAC liability Insurance for HEFA members will cease to be in effect as well, since "permission" to use the field has been withdrawn.
The HEFA Directors are therefore asking members to cease from flying at the Shannon location.
The HEFA field at Porter's Lake is available and is covered by the MAAC Insurance.
Also we are able to use the Shearwater Club's runway. In fact HEFA members are invited by the Shearwater members to join with them on October 8th for a special get-together. Check our web-site for more info in the next few days.

LATER EDIT..!!! ON OCT 1/16 CANADA LANDS RENEWED THE LEASE FOR THE BALANCE OF THE YEAR...SO WE NOW HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THE SHANNON FIELD UNTIL DECEMBER 31st, 2016.
