2016 Lawrencetown Slope Fest - 20 August
Guys,
The glider event of the year in Nova scotia is fast approaching. I hope to see many of you there, especially those who have yet to experience the fun and excitement that is slope soaring. Check out the poster for details.

I don't think I'l be able to make the Slope Fest this year, with two damaged landing gear. Hope everyone has a great time and someone takes lots of pictures.

Thanks guys. It'll be another 4 -6 weeks before I can put any weight on either carriage. Still determined to get some flying in this season though.CF Av8or wrote:Sorry to hear about your under-carriage, John. I hope it is operational again soon!

Re: 2016 Lawrencetown Slope Fest - 20 August
Long term forecast for the weekend is partly sunny, but 8-10 km from NNE to NE for Saturday. - not flyable at Lawrencetown.
Sunday shows 8-14 km from SSE. Good for lightweight soarers.
I'll keep monitoring the situation as things can change.

Re: 2016 Lawrencetown Slope Fest - 20 August
Folks,
The glider event of the year is fast approaching!
So far the weather forecast actually looks very favourable: Sunny and high around 27 degrees. Even with the very light (potentially offshore) prevailing winds currently forecast, the daytime high temp is going to generate a decent sea breeze, so flying conditions should be good.
Even if you need to get your fix of powered flying, there's no reason to miss out on the slope event. The sea breezes don't typically pick up until late morning/early afternoon, so you can fly at the field in the early morning while the wind is calm and then keep right on going to Lawrencetown for the slope action (and sausage lunch) afterwards.
I'd like to remind everyone about the post-event get-together at my place in West Lawrencetown (within sight of the slope) in the evening after the day's flying. A bunch of out-of-towners will be camping at my place, and anyone else who would like to enjoy a few sociables with their fellow fliers and avoid the drive home are also more than welcome to camp out - there's tons of room. I encourage all coming for the evening to bring a park-flyer or two for some powered flying action in my big field after the wind dies down.
Mary and I look forward to seeing you Saturday!
Cheers,
Vic

I'm in for the sleepover. Beats not being able to have a sociable drink.
