GAMES DAY POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO BOTH WEATHER AND FAMILY EMERGENCEY.

The new date is now SUNDAY JULY 13th, with the rain date SATURDAY July 26th..!!!!!!!!!!

July 5th. is the date for the HEFA Games Day this year and Event Director Andrew C. will require a few members to assist him with setting up the events.

It would be appreciated if you could let us know here if you can assist.

Some more news regarding the Games Day event....the Directors met tonight and a new event has been added...

"Helium Balloon Bursting"....could be a few laughs here..!
Of course the ole Limbo event will be a standard item along with a Spot Landing contest. There will be a Multicopter event, however no heli event.
First and Second place awards for each event and an "over-all award" for the contestant who garners the most points throughout the day.

For sure a noon BBQ will be a definite Go..!

The event this year is open to any valid MAAC card holder. Registration is a modest $5.00

Location is the HEFA field at 676 West Porters Lake Road, off Exit 19 of Hwy 107 (for those non HEFA members reading this).

One more item...a Work Party will be planned for either July 3rd or July 4th...to freshen up the field for this July 5th event. More on this in another thread.

This year, our RC Games Day is open to anyone who has MAAC. We will be having at least 4 contests, with possibly 2 more bonus contests if there is enough interest. Mary has worked on creating some very nice prizes for the main contests, and plus there are other prizes. There is a big prize that the Games Day Champion's name will get added to. The list of Games Day Champions will be updated on this main prize, every year, kind of like the NHL does with the Stanley Cup, each year.

The contests are:

Helium Balloon Busting! This is a brand new one for us, and should be a blast.
Flying The Limbo - always a crowd favourite
Mufti-rotor Multi-spot Landing
Dead-stick Landing - who ever lands their plane while flying dead-stick, and , coming closest to the mark, wins!

Please post here if you would like to see either (or both) of these aerial contests:
Open Class 4 minute Streamer Combat - fly any electric fixed wing - whoever has the longest streamer left after 4 minutes wins the round.
Aerial Golf / Bomb Drop - using a supplied Styrofoam cup, a wooden skewer, a rubber band or 2, and a golf ball, attach the cup to your wing or fuse however you can, and fly over the field toward the target, do a barrel roll, and whoever gets the ball closet to the target, wins.

Sounds like fun? Wait, there is more! There will also be an awesome BBQ!

So, come out and have some fun. Maybe you will be crowned the 2014 Games Day Champion!

As noted above in post #1, due to wet weekend weather we are postponing the Games Day Event and will have it on SUNDAY July 13th. with rain date set for SATURDAY July 26th.
