HEFA General Rules and Regulations 2009-2016 and beyond!

Unread post by retiredVTT » Fri May 15, 2009 9:57 pm

Attached (below in post #4) are several pdf files containing the General Rules and Regulations, along with Field Operation rules, under which the members of HEFA shall operate.

As mentioned in the "preable" these rules and regulations will likely change over time, with new items being added when required.
Most of these rules have been gleaned from the writings of two long time rc clubs in our area, as well as from MAAC, so many of them will be very familar to flyers. A few are new to us as they pertain to our particular setup and to the Shannon Park field.

There was a change issued by MAAC as of Dec 31st. 2011 stating that it is no longer mandatory that Warning Signs be posted at the flying field.

Time for a revised set of R & R's ...we have had a few changes since our original posting of 2009.

We have also added a second flying field which requires a rule change.

So the pdf file posted here will bring us all into the year 2013 and beyond with respect to HEFA rules and regulations.

LATER EDIT (May 9/2016) - See the next post for the current RULE SHEETS. They are pdf files that can be printed off.

There has been a further revision made to the HEFA Rules and Regulations. This was passed at the Directors meeting of March 19th, 2014.

The change has to do with item #3 with respect to the Shannon Park Field and is a revision to the weight limit for certain models with a light wing loading. I draw your attention to the fact that this revision applies to only those models and pilots that are declared suitable by the Directors for this field and will be permitted as DEMO flights only.

Attached below are three pages of HEFA Rules and Regulations 2014 that will accompany all Membership Applications.

In addition, on May 12, 2016. a fourth pdf file entitled HEFA Rules for Multi-Copters and Quad Racers was added,

Realistic weight changes!
I have seen a few overweight models flying recently at the field. However these have been flown by well qualified and serious fliers, with total adherence to the strictest of safety regulations.
This is a good thing. Amongst these models are the "Carbon Cub" and various multicopters, both of which were flown in a totally safe and correct manner. The new regulations are a welcome modification to our regulations and as long as suitable supervision of these overweight models is monitored by our directors, there should be no negative effects on the overall safety of our flying.
A sensible and progressive decision.

This thread, concerning HEFA Rules and Regulations that were first drafted in 2009 and revised a few times over the years, has today become a "sticky" on this forum. It will remain at the top of the forum so that it will be easy to locate.

These R & R's have served us well, and will be amended from time to time as the need arises.

As well, today I have added a pdf file known as "MAAC Etiquette Rules" published some 10 years ago. It has been used by HEFA since 2009 but we have been guilty of not making sure that all members know the content. In future all three of our rules sheets will become a handout to new members, and will be available from Directors for ALL members.
