Weekend - July 28/29, 2018
Well - another challenging weekend weather-wise! I left home in the rain and traveled to SP (<5 km LOS) where there was no rain. Certainly variable conditions and a handful of intrepid flyers (maybe 7-8) on-hand. Certainly the weather and the Avon Fun-Fly kept people away.... and then a bit of a heavier shower pushed away most of the flyers. It did stop and those that remained were able to take in some more flying!
That all said, winds were low for some training. Thanks to Rick for helping out Gaetan with some training. I had Ron S up for a 20 min flight with the Apprentice and then a shorter 5 min flight before a heavy shower forced us to land. Ron is doing so well with his landings that I foresee him soloing very soon on his own Apprentice. Well done!
Tomorrow is looking..... the same. Potential for showers again. Hopefully the forecast will improve.

Avon fun fly was great. Lots of pilots and planes and a few from HEFA. Fog and rain on and off all the way down, but weather cleared and was sunny with mild wind.

I never crash, I just create exciting ways to meet the ground. After all, take-offs are desirable, landings are inevitable.

Seems like a rainy day out there today. As much as I would like to venture to SP - even to wait out a shower or two - I am not sure that there will be that opportunity.... anyone at the field that might be able to report on conditions? Or is anyone thinking of going over?
Just looked at the forecast.... POP is 30% for this morning after 9am. So there *could* be a chance....

The weather radar looks promising Brian, at least the heavy rain seems to be past us.
I will probably go and check it out around 9:30 or so...

What a day it turned out to be.....! Not a huge turn-out - maybe 10 people - but it was incredible! Light winds (although a cross-wind for part of the morning)
Ron and I were up for another 2 flights on the club Apprentice and I would say that he is ready for the next steps - setting up his own plane and then a solo! Congratulations Ron!!! You’re now in the need for some more stick time to really hone those skills! And keep up the simulator as that all helps too!
I was asked about a BBQ and we’ll need to get this on the list of things to do!

Turned out to be an excellent day. I headed out in foggy misty conditions just to have a chat as I was having some setbacks building my fourth wing for my free flight Mk 3 Blizzard (other three were scrapped as they did not meet my construction standards). Well weather improved and I got to fly two of my smaller (Mayfly and Sky) models. Air was good with some thermal activity. Good to see the fine turnout.
